Omega is one of the most prestigious Swiss watch brands, with a rich history that dates back to the 19th century.

Founding and Early Years

  • 1848: Louis Brandt founded a small watchmaking workshop in La Chaux-de-Fonds, Switzerland. He assembled key-wound pocket watches from parts supplied by local craftsmen.

  • 1879: After Louis Brandt’s death, his sons Louis-Paul and César Brandt took over and moved operations to Bienne (Biel) in 1880 to access better infrastructure and labor.
